Curriculum

 

All core classes (Ballet, Tap, Jazz) follow the Dance Masters of America curriculum guide.

3 & 4 year olds:   *"Creative Movement Program" : 1 hour class

 

4 & 5 year olds:   Pre-Ballet/Tap level 1: 1/2 hour of ballet and 1/2 hour of tap

 

5 & 6 year olds:   Pre-Ballet/Tap level 2: 1/2 hour of ballet and 1/2 hout of tap

 

7 years old:   Pre-Ballet/Tap/Jazz level 3: 1/2 hour of ballet, 1/2 hour of tap, and 1/2 hour of jazz

 

8 & 9 year olds:   Level 1 Ballet/Tap/Jazz:    1 hour ballet, 1/2 hour tap, and 1/2 hour jazz

 

9 & 10 year olds: Level 2 Ballet/Tap/Jazz: 1 hour ballet, 1/2 hour tap, and 1 hour jazz

Hip-Hop: (10 years and up - ONLY) 1 hour class

 

11-14 years old:  Level 3 Ballet/Tap/Jazz: Each class is 1 hour

Hip-Hop: 1 hour

*Lyrical-Jazz: (12 years and up - ONLY) 1 hour

Pointe: (13 years and up, by teacher recommendation only) 1 hour

*Contemporary  Dance: (13 years and up - ONLY) 1 hour

 

15-18 years old:  Level 4 Intermediate/Advanced: Each class 1 hour

*Creative Movement Program: A Creative Movement program for 3 and 4 year olds that offers a new experience for the young child in learning body awareness, self-assurance, self-esteem, coordination, flexibility, and more! The program offers the young child a chance to "perform" and prepare for more structured classes in the future.

 

*Lyrical-Jazz: (12 years and up - ONLY) A fluid style of jazz, blending movements from classical ballet, modern dance, and ethnic dance forms. The choreographic expression of the performer interprets the lyrics and/or quality of the music.

 

*Contemporary Dance: (13 years and up - ONLY) A creative movement based on any idea/storyline, feeling and/or emotion. The course includes modern dance technique, movement exploration, and composition of a unified dance.

 

*Belly Dance: Available for teens and adults. Belly dance is a great form of exercise and a fun and feminine form of dance. Students will explore the different forms of belly dance and learn to dance with various props such as finger cymbals, veils, and tambourines.
